K-12 Student Registration Information

New Students
- Students entering Kindergarten next school year (even if they are currently enrolled in a child development program)
- Students who are moving from one community to a new community before school starts, plus can provide the necessary residency documentation by the start of school (this would include the 1st Class Funded PK students).
- Students who do not live in Elmore County currently, and know they are moving can provide the necessary residency documentation by the start of school.

Returning Students
Students who attended an Elmore County Public K-12 School last year school year and are not moving to a different community will not update their records this summer. Instead, the schools will provide a form packet for each family to complete. If you did move to a new community then you will need to register as a "New Student" using the link above -
Virtual Students
- Complete The EDGE Application.
- Wait for notification of acceptance.
- Once you have been notified of acceptance into The EDGE, you will then register on Gateway Registration.

Out-Of-District Enrollment Information
This section is for students who are not zoned for Elmore County Public Schools, but would like to apply to attend school in the district.
- New Out of District Application -You will receive a decision via the email address you enter.
- Please note the following:
- If you do not make your first payment by August 1, 2026, your child will not be able to start school. If an application is submitted during the 2nd quarter or afterwards, the fee will be prorated.

If this application is approved, parents will be RESPONSIBLE for transporting their child to and from school. Parents cannot drop off students to an address of convenience in order to ride the bus.

If this application is approved, you agree to comply fully with the ECPS Student Code of Conduct and Attendance Policy. Failure to adhere to these expectations—including multiple office referrals and/or excessive absences—may result in your child being withdrawn for the approved school and returned to their zoned school.

Hardship Request Information
If your child is zoned for Elmore County Public Schools, but would like them to attend a school different from the one they are zoned for, please complete the Hardship Request Form.
Please be mindful of the following:

If your child is already on a hardship, do not complete another one for the upcoming school year. Hardships will automatically be reviewed and approved or denied. Parents will begin being notified of the decision the first two weeks in May 2026.

If this is a new hardship request, please make sure that you have a copy of grades, attendance records, and discipline records from both the 2024-2025 school year and the semester of the 2025 school year before starting the application. These documents are required as part of your hardship request.
- Please note that if your hardship is approved, parents will be RESPONSIBLE for transporting their child to and from school since the school of choice is not part of their route. Parents cannot drop off students to an address of convenience in order to ride the bus. In addition, students must adhere to the attendance and code of conduct. Refusal to do so can result in their hardship being revoked.
- Please note that if your hardship is approved, parents understand that their child must follow the ECPS Student Code of Conduct and Attendance Policy. Excessive absences and/or multiple office referrals can result in the child being withdrawn.

Once your application is submitted, your request will go through administrative review.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: If your child is currently on a hardship, do not submit another request for the upcoming school year. You will receive a letter by the second week of May 2026 indicating if the hardship has been granted for another year or denied for the upcoming year.

Intra/Inter District Transfer Request
- Complete the Intra/Inter District Transfer Request Form when requesting transfer for employees' children.
- After the form is submitted and processed you will receive a confirmation email letting you know that the transfer has been approved.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: If your child has been approved for an Intra/Inter District Request, you do not have to submit another request for the upcoming school year. This request automatically renews each year.

Affidavit Process and Information
IMPORTANT NOTE: If your child is on an affidavit you MUST renew it prior to August 1, 2026 for them to be able to start school. If you do not renew it, they will not be able to start school.

- Get the affidavit notarized and gather the required documents. Affidavits can be notarized at the Board of Education for $5.00.
- If you have never had an affidavit with Elmore County Public Schools, you must schedule an appointment by calling 567-1290 OR scheduling an appointment here.
- Please Note: You must have all the required documents listed under the affidavit requirements at your appointment.
- If you already have an affidavit with Elmore County Public Schools, and need to get an affidavit renewed, you can renew online or schedule an appointment.

Homeschool
Under Alabama law, parents who choose to homeschool their children must notify the local superintendent of their intent to educate their child outside the public school system. This notification can be completed by submitting the homeschool form.
Homeschool/Non-ECBOE Student
Any homeschool/non ECBOE student may register to participate in extra-curricular and/or co-curricular activities as long as he/she is eligible and maintains participation requirements. A fee for participation may be required. If the activity is credit-bearing, a course fee of $285 (May 2025 board approval) is due upon approval and prior to enrollment.
Homeschool parents are RESPONSIBLE for transporting their child to and from school to attend extracurricular activities.- Homeschool Sports - Any homeschool/Non-ECBOE student may register to participate in sports as long as he/she is eligible and maintains participation requirements.
- Homeschool Band - Any homeschool/Non-ECBOE student may register to participate in band as long as he/she is eligible and maintains participation requirements.
- Non-Homeschool Clubs/Extracurricular - Non-homeschool/Non/ECBOE student may register to participate in clubs and/or extracurricular activities as long as he/she maintains participation requirements and has administrative approval.
- Homeschool Sports - Any homeschool/Non-ECBOE student may register to participate in sports as long as he/she is eligible and maintains participation requirements.
ECBOE School Zone Map
The map shows the five different community zones for Elmore County Schools. Millbrook serves the students living in the Millbrook and Coosada communities in western Elmore County. Holtville serves students living in northwest Elmore County, including the western shore of Lake Jordan. Wetumpka serves students living in the central portion of Elmore County, including the eastern shore of Lake Jordan. Redland serves elementary and middle school students living in southeastern Elmore County; the high school students attend Wetumpka High School. Eclectic community serves students living in the northeastern portion of Elmore County, including some parts of the Lake Martin Area.
