Student Enrollment

Enrollment Pathways Overview
Elmore County Public School System offers several special enrollment options beyond neighborhood assignments. All requests are granted on a one‑year basis, and families must reapply each academic year via the district’s online registration portal.

Hardship Requests
Families who live anywhere in Elmore County but wish to send their child to a school outside their home community may submit a Hardship Request.
    •    Eligibility: Residence within Elmore County
    •    Documentation: Current year’s attendance, discipline, and academic records
    •    Decision & Transportation: School principals evaluate each application; if approved, families are responsible for student transportation

Intra‑ and Inter‑District Transfers
Reserved for children of Elmore County Public Schools employees, these transfers allow staff families to enroll children in the school located in the community where the parent or guardian works.
    •    Eligibility: Parent/guardian must be a current ECPS employee
    •    Scope:
    •    Intra‑District: Move between two schools within the same community
    •    Inter‑District: Move to a school in a different ECPS community

Affidavit Admissions
When a student resides with a family member or caretaker in a different community, an Affidavit Admission permits enrollment in that community’s schools.
    •    Eligibility: Proof of residency with a homeowner in the target community
    •    Required Documents:
    1.    Notarized affidavit of residency
    2.    Homeowner’s property deed or lease agreement
    3.    Utility bill or similar proof of current address

Out‑of‑District Enrollment
Students living outside Elmore County who wish to attend ECPS may apply under this category.
    •    Application Fee: Nonrefundable fee due at time of application
    •    Review Criteria: Discipline history, attendance record, and academic performance
    •    Transportation: Families must arrange their own transportation, as out‑of‑district routes are not provided

Application & Renewal Timeline
    1.    Annual Window: Applications open each spring for the following academic year.
    2.    Notification: Decisions are emailed to families by early summer.
    3.    Reapplication: All approved enrollments expire at the end of the school year; families must reapply annually.

In addition, I would like to add a section titled "School Safety"

Safety is a top priority in Elmore County Public Schools. A variety of safety measures are in place to help protect students, faculty, and staff each and every day. These precautions include metal detectors, perimeter fencing, visitor check-in protocols, security cameras, and regular safety trainings and drills throughout the year. Additionally, school resource officers are on staff daily at our schools to help ensure a safe and secure environment.

Although all faculty and staff members play a crucial role in maintaining school safety, key district leaders support these efforts. Mrs. Shay Jackson serves as our District Safety Director, Mr. Stephen McKenzie is the District Compliance Director, and Chief Ricky Lowery is the District School Resource Officer.

These efforts reflect the district’s ongoing commitment to creating a secure and supportive learning environment for all.
